Horoscope of Hugo Chávez
A brief sketch.
Hugo Chávez was born on July 28, 1954 at 04:00:00 in Sabaneta (Barinas), Venezuela.
He was born with the Sun in Leo and the ascendant in Cancer, despite this it seems more likely that the ascendant is found at the end of the Gemini sign. Perhaps his rather stocky figure may seem to indicate otherwise, but it happens that he also has Jupiter, Moon and Mercury in Cancer, and this favors more of a broadened appearance, especially in the belly due to Cancer, also a certain tendency to retain fluids. The Gemini ascendant sign is much more probable because it clearly defines his personality and those verbal twists more typical of a cold-call salesman than of a statesman.
Chávez has a clear tendency not just to be populist, which certainly his Jupiter in Cancer along with the moon promise in a politician, his tendency is to blend in with the people, to believe that the people is him or vice versa. This is what happens with a configuration like the one he presents along with his south node. This circumstance and the significant absence of oppositions form an autocratic politician but emotionally linked to the people, creating a division between those who feel identified with him or vice versa and those who prefer to feel free from the ties of mama and papa Chávez.
This identification with the past that his natal chart points to through his first house is clearly seen with the adoption of the identity of Bolivar's symbols and values, but Chávez is not Bolivar, he only takes his image.

Precisely this nodal configuration marks a personality that has not taken the reins of his destiny. A configuration as marked and powerful as the one represented by the south node along with Jupiter, the Moon and Mercury, and he never knew how to delegate or reach agreements with what he fought against, his political or ideological adversaries. This circumstance along with his lack of generosity (Saturn square sun in the second house), in my view mark a process of involution of which he is surely aware. It really seems like the natal theme of an individual who does not live what he feels he should do because he is indebted to his public.
In recent times we see a Chávez delivered to the prospect of an announced death. This gives him the opportunity to try to be as he feels things should be regardless of what his public desires, and it also gives him the chance to remove the mask of the role he usually plays. Curiously, he has chosen the path of the north node. Now all that is left for him is to extend his hand to his opponents and converse without showing any superiority in the style that his north node indicates. This is pure populism. I hope he has luck because after all he is nothing more and nothing less than just a man facing the same door of exit that we will all cross at some point.
