JESUS AGAINST THE GOSPEL

⚡ TL;DR

This article argues that modern Christianity, particularly Catholicism, has fundamentally betrayed Jesus's original message of humility and equality. The author contends that if Jesus were born today, he would likely be persecuted by the very institutions claiming to represent him, as they prioritize wealth, political power, and control over his core teachings of lifting the humble and challenging the powerful.

JESUS EN CONTRA DEL EVANGELIO

JESUS AGAINST THE GOSPEL

The divine monopoly

As a surprised observer I witness the Pope of Rome's visit to my country, surprised because this scene seems taken from a medieval film, people beaten because they protest against economic favoritism to a specific religion when it is a secular country, surprised after learning that the Catholic far-right tries to assassinate those who are not aligned with it as happened in Oslo, one could argue that these are mentally disturbed individuals but the truth is that religious hypocrisy continues in the 21st century, the bloody beginning of evangelization did not predict anything good in any case.

Not only must a country submit to the dictates of economic markets, but it is also forced to bow before the manifestation of power of those who dominate the religious will of the majority that sustains the economy.

I have always thought that if Jesus had been born in this age without a doubt he would hate the Catholic Church and would not be Christian, possibly he would not be of any religion in which there existed a doctrine commanded by centuries of bloody history and divine right of the first night.

Possibly if Christ were born now he would be persecuted by the Catholic Church, how could this institution consent to being stripped of its immense riches?, How could it not fight against he who precisely tries to elevate the humble and lower the powerful?, the evangelical church would never accept the message of a reborn Jesus.

Gandhi said he liked Christ, what he did not like were Christians, and it seems a logical reasoning in a character who not only cried out against violence and inequality but also actively practiced it, although he faced a Christian country in this case not Catholic that did not seem to agree with all this, although they read that about turning the other cheek and know that a secular demonstration approaches a Catholic one they run as if the devil were chasing them, it is more than likely that they will argue that it is metaphorical text from the Bible.

The Catholic religion became an eminently political establishment of power many centuries ago and abandoned the original message of he to whom they owe their name.

Jesus was not Christian, and much less evangelical, he also did not kill or try to convince anyone politically or militarily that his dogma was the best, Jesus did not give plenary indulgences to those who worshiped him, as far as I know he also did not suffer from homophobia, he was not even on the side of those who held economic power, he was also not creating a macroeconomic and political empire, he did not downplay pedophilia nor did he force others to think for you, he was not always on the side of right-wing dictators or conservative politicians, he did not seem to be a prude singing evangelical songs either, in short he was not the puppet they paint.

A message distorted and bloated between repeated rituals and ceremonies does not seem to lead anywhere.

Jesus buddyAn intelligent and revolutionary message like the one he conveyed had in any case few chances of taking root, finally it only remained as the shell of a very sweet fruit that they always promise you that you can eat if you follow the dictates of a hierarchy of power, institutionalized religions let the inside of the fruit rot and embellish the outside of the shell.

A papacy like that of Francis could well be the solution, if they let him…

Does anyone wonder how those who monopolize his name would receive Jesus in this age?

Frequently Asked Questions

Was Jesus Christian? +
No. Jesus was Jewish and never founded Christianity as an organized religion. The Christian church was established by his followers after his death, often distorting his original teachings through centuries of institutional politics and doctrine.
What did Jesus actually teach about wealth and power? +
Jesus taught radical equality and criticized the wealthy, famously stating it was harder for a rich man to enter heaven than for a camel to pass through a needle's eye. He advocated for lifting the humble and challenging those in power—the opposite of modern religious institutions.
Why do religious institutions contradict Jesus's message? +
Over centuries, organized religions became political and economic power structures. They accumulated wealth, aligned with rulers, and created hierarchies—directly opposing Jesus's message of humility, non-violence, and equality for all people.
What did Gandhi say about Christians? +
Gandhi famously stated: 'I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians.' He admired Jesus's teachings but found that Christians often failed to practice the compassion, non-violence, and equality Jesus preached.
How has the Catholic Church strayed from Jesus's teachings? +
The Catholic Church accumulated immense wealth and political power, granted indulgences, protected abusers, aligned with dictators, and enforced rigid doctrines—all antithetical to Jesus's call for simplicity, justice, and moral integrity.
