La estación espacial internacional, ISS, esta continuamente orbitando la tierra, la zona en penumbra y la zona a la luz del sol, ahora puedes ver EN DIRECTO Y POR TIEMPO LIMITADO, la visión de una cámara situada allí apuntando a la tierra.

“La NASA proporciona un canal vía Internet que transmite el video procedente del complejo orbital sin interrupciones, durante las horas de trabajo de los astronautas. La emisión se ha iniciado el pasado 1 de febrero de 2010.

Desde marzo de 2009, la NASA ya ofrecía imágenes constantes procedentes de la Estación, pero pertenecían a cámaras que enfocaban hacia la Tierra o el exterior de la ISS. Ahora los espectadores podrán ver el interior de los módulos con los astronautas trabajando, incluyendo las conversaciones que se puedan desarrollar entre ellos y el centro de control de misión.

Dado que las conexiones con la antena de alta velocidad entre la ISS y la Tierra se efectúan a través de la red de satélites TDRS, habrá cortos períodos sin imagen, debido a la falta de cobertura. Durante estos periodos de perdida de señal, los espectadores contemplarán una señal de prueba o un mapa que describe la localización de órbita de la Estación sobre el mundo. Este video «en directo» desde la Estación forma parte de la celebración de la NASA por los 10 años en órbita de la ISS.
